Evanston’s Proposed Temporary 1% Specific Purpose Excise Tax
Evanston voters will decide in the November 4, 2025 special election whether to approve a temporary 1% Specific Purpose Excise Tax (SPET) to fund one-time community projects. The City’s share would build a new Aquatic Center and convert the existing pool space into a gymnastics center. The tax would raise Uinta County’s sales tax from 5% to 6% until projects are fully paid off, then automatically expire.
