Candidate Posting Policy
Updated: October 2025
Applies to: Evanston, WY: Community Issues, City & County Politics (Facebook Group)
Purpose
This policy outlines expectations for political candidates, elected officials, and campaign representatives who choose to participate in our community discussion group.
The goal is to maintain a respectful, transparent space for local dialogue about Evanston, Uinta County, and Wyoming issues.
Guidelines
1. Engage with Residents
Members value genuine conversation. If you post in the group, please plan to reply to comments and questions. This group is a place for two-way communication, not one-way promotion.
2. Be Transparent
Clearly identify yourself and the office you currently hold or are seeking. If you are posting on behalf of a campaign, please note that in your post.
3. Stay on Topic
Posts must relate directly to local government, elections, or community issues within Evanston, Uinta County, or Wyoming. National political commentary or unrelated content is not permitted.
4. Maintain Civility
All discussion should remain respectful. Disagreement is welcome; personal attacks, inflammatory language, or disrespectful behavior are not.
5. No “Drive-By” Posts
Repeated one-way posting (without engagement) may result in future submissions being held until the poster confirms willingness to follow these guidelines.
This group is a forum for conversation and community understanding — not a campaign advertising space.
Why This Policy Exists
The group welcomes participation from anyone running for office or involved in public service. However, consistent standards help ensure fairness, focus, and civility. These guidelines apply equally to all candidates, regardless of political affiliation or position.
